The Dow Chemical Company Foundation
The Dow Chemical Company Foundation is one of the founding members of the Global Water Challenge, an organization dedicated to building awareness and promoting scalable actions in expanding coverage for clean water and sanitation worldwide. Specifically, Dow has created lower-cost desalination technologies, more effective ultra filtration systems, and materials to improve the sustainability of water infrastructure.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation focuses on new investments in sanitation tools and technologies—including latrine design, pit emptying, sludge treatment, and the disposal or reuse of waste. Other components of grantmaking include finding lasting solutions that stimulate household demand for safe sanitation, encourage businesses to provide affordable-yet-durable sanitation products and services, and motivate governments to establish effective sanitation policies.
The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation focuses its support on the safe water access component of WASH programs for the ultra poor in rural, peri-urban settings, and small towns. The foundation's web site also includes lessons learned in WASH funding as well as additional resources and research.
The PepsiCo Foundation funds demand-driven solutions that protect water sources and improve usage of existing water to help minimize the growing water crisis faced by millions of people in underserved regions. Procter & Gamble's Children’s Safe Drinking Water program provides PUR packets, a water purifying technology, in response to emergencies including cholera outbreaks, earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters. Efforts focus on providing clean drinking water in schools, outreach to mothers in health clinics, and clean drinking water for malnourished children.
The Rockefeller Foundation expanded WASH funding in 2011 by exploring a multiple use services concept which is built on the premise that poor people’s livelihoods and well-being require water for a variety of purposes, such as drinking, washing and cooking, livestock rearing, watering home gardens or for other small-scale productive uses.

The World Bank's Water and Sanitation Program works directly with local and national governments in 25 countries tp effect the regulatory and structural changes needed for broad water and sanitation sector reform. Community-Led Total Sanitation
The Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) web site connects practitioners, communities, NGOs, agencies, researchers, governments, donors and others involved or interested in CLTS. The Sanitation Marketing Community of Practice is a WASH Reference Group initiative supported by the AusAID Innovations Fund and managed by WaterAid Australia.
